Job Summary:
Provide safety support to a variety of construction sites in a multi-state region to ensure a safe and healthful work environment. Identify safety needs, conduct training, develop and implement policies and procedures to attain an “Incident Free” work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Regional Focus
- Develop, own and lead regional safety plan, incorporating all elements into site / project specific plans. Track and report on progress, assisting with accountability to the plan.
- Train regional staff in required safety program and compliance training.
- Participate in regional safety committee, providing technical knowledge and cultural support.
- Develop rapport with area medical clinics and doctors
- Responsible for managing Corval’s injury management and return to work program including medical visits, recordability of injuries and workers comp.
- Identify and appraise conditions which could produce accidents and financial losses. Develop, recommend, and implement policy and procedure improvement.
- Assist with client development, bridging of safety programs and support to proposal preparation.
- Responsible for implementation of safety policies on all Corval Group projects, including field audits, and feedback to project and division managers.
- Lead incident investigations; write detailed reports with causal factors and action items.
- Document drug testing, site safety audits, SPOTS, THA’s and inspections with corrective measures taken.
Site Safety
- Train site personnel in safety requirements. Responsible for ensuring all employees are educated on the company’s Drug and Alcohol policy, commitment to safety, and ensuring job specific training has occurred.
- Provide guidance and expert advice to project manager and other management personnel on safety programs, systems, and process to ensure that all site staff is following corporate standards and applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules and standards.
- Lead incident investigations, write detailed reports with casual factors and action items.
- Identify areas or conditions for safety improvement on job site. Develop accident prevention and loss control systems and program to incorporate into operations.
- Document drug testing, site safety audits, SPOTS, THA’s and inspections with corrective measures taken.
- Ensure timely follow through and resolution on theft and property loss administration.
- Provide first aid treatment to injured employees if possible.
- Responsible for managing Corval’s injury management and return to work program including medical visits, recordability of injuries and workers comp.
- Ensure timely, complete, and accurate personnel injury reporting and paperwork.
- Compile, analyze, and prepare job site safety management data and reports for management.
- Maintain site specific MSDS log book.
Other Responsibilities / Expectations
- Assist corporate safety as requested
- Travel to other sites in the United States / Canada
- Corporate assignments / duties as assigned
- Assist with turnaround or shutdown work in the region or other national sites
- Attending conferences / meetings / seminars
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in safety planning and execution. Knowledge of safety practices in the construction and engineering field. Ability to analyze data and implement strategies to maximize safety.
- Advanced oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills. Ability to train and motivate team to focus on safety. Well organized with analytical abilities to determine areas for safety improvement.
- Relevant four year college degree in occupational safety and specialized training or equivalent work experience in construction or engineering safety.
- Fully qualified in first aid training
- Certified to train OSHA 10 and 30 hour
- Experience in Petrochemical, Power, Heavy Industrial
Working Conditions:
- Construction site environment (commercial, industrial, process plants) – Physical ability to walk, stand, bend, and climb for safety inspection purposes while wearing safety equipment / PPE. Must be able to drive a vehicle to and from inspections.
- Office environment – extensive sitting at desk and computer; some standing, bending at the waist, stooping and reaching required; ability to lift 5-20 pounds occasionally.
- Travel is required for this position and may be on remote project sites up to 50% of the time.
